The heater is equipped with a ProTek Shield Assembly located under the inlet connection on polymer headers and in the ProTek Shield Adapter assembly shipped loose in the accessory carton for field installation on brass ASME headers. This component provides essential protection to the heat exchanger against galvanic corrosion, and it should be replaced when its weight is reduced to about 40% of the original weight. Not available on ASME models until March 2020, it is excellent for use in chlorinated and saltwater pools.
